This, of course, is not a surprise. If you can believe it, the logic Bell uses is the bigger problem. Essentially he is saying, “What we have currently believed in the evangelical church is alienating people so, let’s change what we believe. People will like us more.”

And there is a bigger problem yet: most Christians’ view of ‘love’ is shaped by the Zeitgeist. And the bad news is that most pastors are just as confused and will never get off their duffs to teach their flocks the basics.

Thanks Michael. One of my biggest concerns is the tendency of evangelical pastors and congregations to be “late to the game” so to speak. The assault against genuine Christianity is intensifying daily and I am concerned that before the average church realizes it these new “beliefs” (theistic evolution, gay Christianity, the end of sola Scriptura) will have hardened and it will be hard for the uninitiated to go against the flow. I think we are going to face a “Trojan Horse” affect and that there are already many in the pews who are holding many of these new beliefs.
